Closures in front of the White House have been instituted as Pennsylvania Avenue goes under construction ahead of the 2025 Presidential Inauguration. Preparations typically begin on November 1 each election year, but the National Park Service started early to accommodate a more secure and safe process.

Tourists and demonstrators expecting to visit the gates of the White House are now held back behind wire fences and “Danger” signs from the other side of Lafayette Park, which will remain partially closed through February 2025.

Temporary shelters, heavy machinery, and construction materials now occupy the White House sidewalk. This week, a concrete mixer truck was delivered.

The main attraction will be viewing stands built especially for the presidential inaugural parade — although who will be President on that day is yet to determined.
Less than three weeks remain until election day, November 5.
