President Biden says he’s offering an explanation, not an excuse, for his dismal presidential debate against Donald Trump

[Cheonji Daily Washington = Reporter Eloise Lee] — July 6
When Joe Biden’s televised debate against Donald Trump last week proved to be “not the best”, the US president immediately spoke at campaign receptions to reassure donors that he would fight harder to win the election. The Biden campaign raised $38 million since that night.
But Biden also offered to explain why he performed so poorly. It was due to exhaustion, according to an explanation he gave on Tuesday at a campagin reception just outside Washington, DC.
But exhaustion from what exaclty? From doing the job of a president, apparently.
“I wasn’t very smart,” he said. “I decided to travel around the world a couple times, going to I don’t know how many timezones — for real, I think it was 15 time zones, in a couple weeks before the debate,” he said.
Biden told supporters that he didn’t listen to his staff’s advice, saying“[I] came back and nearly fell asleep on stage” — a self-deprecating remark which drew laughter from the room.
“That's no excuse, but it is an explanation,” he added.
The reality is, Biden did travel to Europe to mark the anniversary of D-Day, but he had already returned to America and spent over a week at Camp David, the presidential retreat home before the debate.
