The U.S. says it will push back on Russia’s attempts to interfere once again in the presidential election race. During the prior 2020 election, the U.S. had issued warnings to Russia to stay out of the way.
“We know and we’ve made public what we know about Russia’s attempts to interfere in this election,” confirmed John Kirby, the National Security Communications Advisor to the Biden Administration.
Kirby said the U.S. is going to publicize what it knows the Russians are trying to do, but would not get into specifics on the counter operations.
“There’s an awful lot that we do to counter those operations by the Russians,” he said. “Some of that we talk about, some of that we don’t.”
Kirby told reporters that President Bident has had no direct communication with Vladimir Putin, but through other channels the U.S. has already made it “perfectly clear” to the Russian government that America will not sit still.
“We’re going to push back on them,” said Kirby, noting it would be done “strongly and staunchly.”
