Washington calls on Hamas to accept “extraordinarily generous” ceasefire deal from Israel
"They have to decide, and they have to decide quickly,” says Secretary of State.

Since the outbreak of war in October, Israel has been against talks of a ceasefire with Hamas, along with the White House saying all along that a ceasefire “would only benefit Hamas.” For months, President Biden and the Administration reiterated that a ceasefire in Gaza would afford Hamas terrorists time to recuperate, restock, and prepare for future assaults.
However, this week in Washington, the official message is in full support for an immediate ceasefire with a deal presented by Israel to Hamas.
“Hamas has before it a proposal that is extraordinarily – extraordinarily – generous on the part of Israel,” shared US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a discussion at the World Economic Forum on Monday.
The US has remained quiet on the details of the “generous” deal on the table before Hamas. But officials say the primary aim is to secure the release of all remaining hostages in Gaza, and to surge more humanitarian aid into the war zone.
“The only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire is Hamas. They have to decide, and they have to decide quickly,” urged Secretary Blinken.
