Donghae branch helped victims of the forest fire tirelessly immediately after receiving news.
The group put love for its neighbors into action at ‘Mangsang Auto Camping site’
[Cheonji Daily=Reporter Jisol Lee] On July 5th, Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Donghae branch reported that they carried out an environmental conservation initiative at Mangsang Auto Camping site, which suffered tremendous damage from a huge forest fire in April, to remove all kinds of floating trash
This voluntary activity took place in the lead-up to the summer months where visitors flock to the beach. SVG, who heard news about the damage caused to the beach by the forest fire, carried out voluntary work with a regretful heart at the predicted decrease in tourists visiting the eastern coast of Korea.
According to SVG, more than 50 volunteers willingly toiled in the
searing 34oC heat to remove as much as 50 gunnysacks of garbage and 50 floats of water from the sandy beach.
Mr. Changrae Kim, general manager of Donghae City Volunteer Center, thanked SVG, saying “You have been consistently volunteering to do the hard work that no one else wants to do under any condition. You are true and the most needed volunteers of our times. I thank all members of SVG who aided the city under this hot weather.”
Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Donghae branch has been constantly volunteering for the prevention of forest fire during the prevention season appointed by Donghae city. Moreover, the group has continuously served local society with various voluntary activities including hair-styling, providing helping hands for elderly farmers who walk alone, forest fire prevention, wall-painting, kimchi donation, house repairs for the elderly living alone and hosting relief events for war veterans and other groups.
